I think my favorite holiday during school was Valentine's Day. To an 8 year old, what is more fun than
(1) waking up to heart-shaped pancakes and a Valentine's Day balloon
(2) wearing as much red as possible
(3) addressing Valentines to friends (but making sure to avoid any "be mine" to the boys)
(4) having a party DURING SCHOOL HOURS
and
(5) receiving 23 valentines
*sigh* I loved it. And now that I have a 4 almost 5-year-old I'm loving it even more. She's too little to really get the fact that most kids go to walmart and choose some terrible character valentine with a "You Drive Me Crazy, Valentine" message on it. I'm so glad! This is what we did this year for her pre-school class:

Here is what you will need:
(1) a photo of your little one. I took a photo of Maria on a white backdrop and then added hearts with photoshop. Pretty cute if you ask me.
(2) clear plastic treat bags. The long and skinny ones.
(2) goodies to go in the bags. we were going to do Reese's hearts but then I remembered that she has a friend in class who is allergic to peanuts. so that was out. instead, we got pink marshmallows (some heart-shaped) from Wal-Mart.
(3) stapler
(4) crinkle scissors. i don't know what the correct name for them is, but this works
(5) sprinkles

In photo shop, I opened an 8.5x11 "new project." I arranged 4 pictures on it sized 4x3ish with some empty space at the top of each. Then I typed a Valentine's Day message in the empty space and flipped the text upside down. Then I printed it on cardstock and cut out each picture/message. (ABOVE) I folded the card right about the text.
Fill the clear bags with a handful of goodies and sprinkles. Fold the top of the bag down (there will be quite a bit of 'extra' bag). Fold the card (above) over the fold of the bag and staple it in place. Cut away the excess bag that's sticking out from the bottom of the card.
Best Valentine's Ever
