This is Us

I am a 25 year old mama to 4 (yes, FOUR) babies: Maria, Jamie, Alice, and soon-to-be Charlotte. My husband Danny and I are super busy! We spend our days playing dress up, reading, "doing art," laughing, and we definitely watch our fair share of Noggin.

Zeek

Last Wednesday, the dogs started acting sick. We had played all day like any other day, they had been outside some and in their crates some. Danny played with them when he took the kids out front. Everything was normal. Well around 9:00pm, Scout puked. This isn't really that abnormal because sometimes he will drink too much water and he'll just kinda puke it up. So no biggie. He puked a couple more times, so I knew he was kinda sick.

Danny woke up to Zeek and his crate covered in diarrhea. It was also on the wall. If that gives you a better idea of just how sick they were. We still just figured they ate something gross and they'd get over it (because dogs do).

Ugh, they didn't.

By that afternoon, they were sick. As the vet tech said they were, "sick as dogs." Good one.

Scout just stood in the yard puking. All afternoon long. Zeek was shivering all day and had terrible diarrhea. We loaded them up in the truck and took them to the vet. It's a good thing we did, because I'm pretty sure they would have been goners if we didn't.

They had to be hooked up to IVs for 5 days, had charcoal put in their bellies (which didn't work because they just puked it right back up), were on a ton of medication to help with the vomiting and diarrhea, and were super weak. Zeek came home today!

Back to his old ways...
There's the little spot on his leg where the IV port was. Is that the right term? I like to pretend I know, but I don't.

He's feeling way better....well enough to move so fast my camera only catches a blur. :)

Scout is still at the doggy hospital. He is still getting fluids because, even after Zeek was done puking, Scout still did. He isn't eating as much still because he vomits it up, but we're hoping he'll come home soon. We don't know what they got into, even after we searched our property and the lot across the street! Something nasty, we know that!

And now to see what the vet bill will be....

Did they do xrays to see if it was something solid?? Like nails?? Lots of construction up there. What about fertilizer?? Poor guys.
