This is Us

I am a 25 year old mama to 4 (yes, FOUR) babies: Maria, Jamie, Alice, and soon-to-be Charlotte. My husband Danny and I are super busy! We spend our days playing dress up, reading, "doing art," laughing, and we definitely watch our fair share of Noggin.

Pancakes on a Saturday

This has been a rough week. Without going into detail (because, really, no one likes to hear all about other people's problems in detail...BORING!) I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. I obsess over things that might be wrong with me.

My headache last week was most definitely a brain tumor.

Oh, and my leg ache? I'm 88.67% sure it was a blood clot, probably making it's way to my heart or brain as we speak.

But in all seriousness, I had a rough week with it. Which is so frustrating to me because I've been doing so well and have avoided feeling like I had for so long, that when I did get a little overwhelmed, it was too much.

But then this morning I went into the kitchen to this:

Pancakes-6

When there are ingredients out on the counter, I know Daddy is going to make a delicious breakfast.

And we had buttermilk.

Which could only mean one thing: Buttermilk Pancakes.

Oh. My. Deliciousness. We busted out the William-Sonoma pancake molds and made ourselves a little solar system of yummy.

Pancakes-8

Whatever, the first one always sucks.

Pancakes-9

Maybe I had the pan a little too hot. I don't know. But this one actually wasn't that bad.

Pancakes-11

The moon, though...this I was proud of. Look at the nose...the eye...the mouth. It's not easy making pancakes in the shapes of things. Batter runs and it doesn't set up and it can be quite a mess. So yes....this is actually pretty good.

Pancakes-12

And the kids loved them.

Pancakes-13

Usually Maria wants hers cut up with syrup, but not this morning. She wanted to stare at that (perfect) moon as long as she could. It's a good thing she's pretty skilled with a fork.

Pancakes-14

Alice didn't care...she got the crappy #1 pancake.

Pancakes-15

And while we all enjoyed our buttermilk pancakes, we watched a little Dino Dan.

Pancakes-20

And then Danny and I cleaned the kitchen (because nothing is worse than a messy kitchen and plates and pans in the sink, right?) and rounded up the kittens for a bath.

He started the water, I rounded up all their clothes, he washed their hair, and I got them dressed. We have it down.

After their baths, they jumped.

Pancakes-23

And Alice the Monkey climbed.

Pancakes-27

And when a Saturday starts with this:

Pancakes-31

...I can feel pretty confident that any itches, headaches, pains, or dizziness is probably Miss Charlotte. And I can really enjoy the weekend. Because how could I not with these 3 (4) perfect tiny humans to help?
