The wedding was fabulous. Everything from rehearsal to rehearsal dinner to the hotel to the actual day itself. Wonderful. Fabulous. Really, really fun.
First, an apology. These pictures are HORRIBLE. Yes, the first several are horrible because they were taken by 5 year olds. The rest are horrible because (a) I didn't have my "nice" camera, (b) the light was really terrible and (c) my "little" camera is not the greatest. But they remind us of a really fun weekend and that's all that matters :)
So first of all, this was the wedding of Jordan and Fran. Jordan's brother, Clay, was one of Danny and my very best friends. Hilarious, talented, smart, fun and incredibly sweet and kind. Clay died a couple of years ago and we miss him every day. I know Jordan through Clay and Fran through Jordan. Jordan is great and Fran is awesome. I was SO touched an honored that they asked Maria to be their flower girl. And Maria? I cannot even tell you how excited she was!! A big white poofy dress, walking down an aisle and having the title of "flower girl" is every 5 year old's dream come true.
At the rehearsal dinner, Maria met Summer who is Fran's cousin. They were pretty much bffs. After my phone battery died from playing princess puzzles games for 2 hours straight, they stole my camera. I have 15 photos that look like this:
This is Fran's god mother who made Maria's hair barrette (you'll see it in the next couple pictures). She was great!
The next day was wedding day. Maria, obviously, needed her hair done by a professional. We went to a "fancy" salon. See the lady on the left? She is relaxing with a cup of coffee and a magazine. This salon was the type of place where, apparently, people come 30 minutes early to their appointment just so they can enjoy the atmosphere. We arrived 5 minutes early.
The girl (who I'm guessing doesn't really care for little kids. I mean, come on, can't you fake a voice when you're talking to a 5 year old?) told me that she "...could shampoo her hair if I wanted, but updos really do stay better on dirty hair." I told her, "Well we washed her hair this morning, so it's not 'dirty'...and yes, we want you to wash it again." We needed the whole experience, baby. And we got it.
We thought maybe the faux-hawk would be a good look...Maria wasn't too sure.
This is a horrible picture, but Maria was so funny during pictures. She was very serious until it came time to smile. I talked with her before the wedding and explained that being the flower girl was serious business and she couldn't be shy or silly and decide she didn't want to walk down the aisle. She understood...
The wedding was at the cathedral and it was gorgeous. Huge, beautiful, lots of stained glass and tons of really beautiful detail.
Jordan and Fran and the wedding party. Let me just say that it was a very good looking wedding party. Fran and her sisters are SO beautiful and have personalities that match. The second bridesmaid in is her sister and is pregnant (obviously). She's probably the cutest pregnant person ever. Like, the kind that could probably wear a bikini and look ridiculously good in it.
And then there was the reception. There was so much dancing going on at the reception by the kids. My favorite part about this photo is jamie dancing....so cute.
Alice just kinda hung out by us. And drank whatever was left of Maria's "raspberry drinks." She quickly realized that if you go up to the bartender and ask for a raspberry drink, you magically get handed a raspberry italian soda....and no one is there to stop you. She probably had about 5.
This is my favorite picture of the night. The kids are dancing like crazy and everyone is so happy. That sums up the weekend.
