So I was going to post this on my other blog
(www.mjathethingstheysay.blogspot.com)
but it's not funny.
It's just really sweet and really cute and very, very Jamie.
My grandpa is very sick. He has had alzheimer's for many years and his body has just had it. He is ready to go, but still holding on as tight as he can (he's a strong one, that guy). The last week or so, my mom and dad have been spending a lot of time over at my grandma and grandpa's house, along with my aunts and uncles and cousins.
We go over every once in a while to visit, too, and I have explained to them that great grandpa is very sick and is almost ready to go to heaven. They understand, and don't make a big deal out of it, and just accept it, because that's what 3 and 5 year olds do.
Today, we were in the car and I told Jamie and Alice that we were going to go over to great grandma and grandpa's house.
"Yay!! Is great grandma going to be there?"
"Yep, she is."
"Good. Is great grandpa going to be sleeping all day and all night again?"
"Yes, probably. Remember he doesn't feel well? His body has to rest and get ready for heaven, remember?"
"Yep. He will wake up in heaven and heaven will take very good care of him."
And that was that. He said it very matter-of-factly. He said it like he didn't think it was true, but that he knew it was true. And I think maybe if Jamie would tell great grandpa that himself, maybe great grandpa would believe him, and be ready to go to heaven and just be taken care of...and I think Jamie has things figured out.
