This is Us

I am a 25 year old mama to 4 (yes, FOUR) babies: Maria, Jamie, Alice, and soon-to-be Charlotte. My husband Danny and I are super busy! We spend our days playing dress up, reading, "doing art," laughing, and we definitely watch our fair share of Noggin.

Glucose...blech

I obviously wrote that last post before I got the results of my 1 hour glucose test (it's the test they make you do to see if you have gestational diabetes).

Well, I failed it.

Yep, I failed it by something like 12 points. I think my number was 150 and they like it to be under 138. So off I went today for my 3-hour glucose test.

It sucked.

#1) The drink they give you is pure sugar. It's like syrup. Horrible. You have only a few minutes to drink the entire cup of it and it burns going down -- I had to really concentrate so I wouldn't gag and throw it up, not joking.

#2) You have to stay in the path lab for 3+ hours. Like, in the little waiting room. Terrible. It is horribly depressing. Lots of older people coming in. It smells (it has nothing to do with the old people...today it smelled like cigarette smoke thanks to the 20 something girl sitting next to me, and tacos. Sick.). The chairs are so uncomfortable.

#3) You have to give blood 4 times. Once at the very beginning, once after 1 hour, once after 2 hours, and once after 3 hours. I don't usually mind giving blood, I'm not really afraid of needles, but after just giving blood twice last Thursday, my arms look gross and are kinda sore.
#4) Childcare -- I am so thankful my mom didn't work today and was able to help me with the kids!! I went in to the lab at 8:40am, hoping to get out in time to get Alice at 12:00pm. Well, they were behind and I didn't get seen until 9:05am which meant that my last draw was at 12:05....after daycare closed. I was late getting Jamie, and I had to reschedule my regular appointment so my mom saved the day again by coming to watch the kids at 3:00pm.

Ugh.

But, good news.

I passed my 3-hour glucose test with flying colors. Seriously, thank goodness. I love pasta. and bread. And Danny is making cinnamon rolls tonight.

So I am 30 weeks and here are my stats (these are for my own records so when I look back on my pregnancy/blog, I know this stuff....I know it's so boring and no one else cares!)

Weight gain (total): 6 lbs. (0 lbs from last appt)
BP: 120/75
Baby's HR: low 140's
My tummy: measuring 31 weeks

I go back in 2 weeks...
