This is Us

I am a 25 year old mama to 4 (yes, FOUR) babies: Maria, Jamie, Alice, and soon-to-be Charlotte. My husband Danny and I are super busy! We spend our days playing dress up, reading, "doing art," laughing, and we definitely watch our fair share of Noggin.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Pet Peeve #8,939 (I have a lot): People who 'hate' Valentine's Day because it's "just a Hallmark holiday."

Boo.

I LOVE Valentine's Day. A lot. Candy, hearts, balloons, flowers, love, red....tell me what isn't great about all those things?

So this morning for Valentine's Day, I was going to attempt free-hand heart shaped pancakes.

Thank goodness for Aunt Tracy. She surprised us last week with this:

Yes, a heart-shaped waffle maker. The kids were thrilled with it and so was I - because those heart shaped pancakes would have looked like horrible ovals and the kids totally would have called me out on it.

And when I walked into the kitchen this morning, I was surprised by this sitting on the island:

Dan is sweet. I love flowers. LOVE them. And with a heart sticking out of the top? 10x better.

Last night when the kids went to sleep, Cupid paid our kitchen a visit. It looks like he may have gotten sick in there and puked up 20 pink, red, and white balloons.

And I'm wondering if maybe I have been poisoned because when I was done blowing up all those balloons, I looked at my hands and they were stained red....so were my lips. And it did taste rather chemical-ly. Whatever, the kids loved it.

The kids saw the gift bags and bolted for the ones with their name on it.

Cupid left Jamie a tiny Lego set, Maria got a Webkins poodle....

...and Alice got a tiny Olivia doll. And they all got a book. Because books are the best gifts ever.

And finally the pink heart-shaped waffles were ready.

The babies gobbled them up.

And at 8:05, just 5 minutes before we had to leave for school, we scrambled to get Ria dressed.

Obviously, she wore her pink tutu, pink boots, pink bow, and pink Valentine's Day shirt. Duh.

Yes, the tutu is totally over the top, but she is 5 -- and how much longer will she really want to wear a giant, twirly, hot pink tutu? I'm soaking it all up while I can.

vday11-20

Alice's outfit was very under the top - a red velvet-y sweat suit. With her diaper sticking out.

And here are 3 of my 5 loves. The tiniest of my loves was sleeping soundly in my belly (loved it) and the biggest of my loves was at work, which Maria was appalled at. "But, mama....it's VALENTINE'S Day!! Why is he working???" Some people just don't get how special it is :)

So to all of our friends:
