This is Us

I am a 25 year old mama to 4 (yes, FOUR) babies: Maria, Jamie, Alice, and soon-to-be Charlotte. My husband Danny and I are super busy! We spend our days playing dress up, reading, "doing art," laughing, and we definitely watch our fair share of Noggin.

Valentine's Dinner for 2....plus 1

Tonight we were going to go out for dinner. We had a babysitter and everything. But.....we forgot to get reservations and on Saturday I thought, "Hmmm. Probably won't be able to get in anywhere on Valentine's Day."

So we made dinner.

That was the kids' dinner. They love mac and cheese. So for them, it was a treat. We got their food going and ready for them by 5:30 and then sent them downstairs to watch their new dvds (thanks Grandma and Grandpa) while Danny and I made our grown-up dinner.

We halved some brussels sprouts.

Dan seasoned (gag) his (gag) giant steak (gag).

I cooked some pancetta.

I also cut up some sun-dried tomatoes.

And I cooked some pasta. With a store-bought jar of sun dried tomato alfredo, the pancetta, tomatoes, and pasta all tossed together was so delicious.

And the brussels sprouts: boiled, sauteed, salt and peppered, and then drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Mmmmmm.

While Danny enjoyed his glass of wine, I enjoyed my Pom. I love this stuff.

But this summer I am going to try and like wine. Because I want to go to Napa Valley and go wine tasting. That is the only reason.

I've also heard a little wine can be good for you, and since I am constantly thinking I might be dying, drinking something good for me every once in a while can only help me live.

My plate was fantastic (I had halibut instead of steak).

Dan says his was good, too. But it was really pink....which is a big no-no to me.

And with Modest Mouse playing in the background, Dan and I got to enjoy a romantic Valentine's Day dinner at home.

And then, about 5 minutes into it, I heard a tiny voice:

"Mama? Mom? Mamaaaaaaaaaa?!"

Alice decided to join us.
